A MORAY HOTEL is in line for a national honour after being shortlisted for the title of friendliest Bed and Breakfast in the UK.

The Cluny Bank Hotel on St Leonards Road in Forres has been listed by the AA based on the opinions of a team of inspectors who visit Hotels and B&B’s around the country.

Cluny Bank will hope to follow the 2015 winners, the Old Railway Yard in Redruth, Cornwall, in receiving the award.

Visitors to the Cluny Bank have always appreciated the warm welcome their receive on arrival and throughout their stay – evidenced by the its five-star rating awarded by visitors through the respected TripAdvisor website.

The stately Victorian mansion is equally well known for its fine dining in the Franklin’s Restaurant – but it is the over friendly nature of the Hotel that caught the eye of the AA and delighted owners Lloyd and Julia Kenny. The couple are no strangers to awards, having in the past been named as the Scottish Hotel Awards ‘Real and Local Food’ Restaurant of the Year for Franklin’s.

Julia will head down to London for the AA Awards on May 9. Posting news of the nomination on the Hotel’s social media page, Julia said: “Lloyd is going to hold the fort here while I jet off to London.

“It came as a total surprise and we are over the moon and delighted to be nominated by our AA inspectors as one of the years 25 finalists – from over 2000 properties on the AA Guest Accommodation Scheme.”
