A SPEYSIDE COMMUNITY Association is holding an event this week that they hope will inspire young and old to put their names forward to assist in a variety of local events.

Dufftown and District Community Association are holding a Volunteer Recruitment Day on Sunday in the town’s Memorial Hall.

With a total of 33 groups and organisations in the Dufftown area providing a myriad of activities throughout the year, the Association hopes to ensure the fine reputation the town has for well-organised and attended events continues over the next year.

For that members of the community, young and old, are required to step forward.

A spokesperson said: “People will volunteer for different reasons – perhaps they have their own event idea they wish to organise and need help, or they wish to drive a train, develop a mountain bike track or lead a walk.

“Many are parents of children who already attend one of the clubs in and around Dufftown, others are young people or currently unemployed who wish to enhance their work experience – whatever their reasons, all are welcome to our Recruitment Day.”

Tea and home bakes will be available to those turning out to learn more from 1pm to 4pm on Sunday in the Memorial Hall.
