TACKS SPREAD OVER the road in a copy-cat fashion to incidents reported last year in Elgin have sparked a police appeal for information.
The carpet tacks have been discovered to have been strewn over a section of Coulardbank Road in Lossiemouth – and as a result and number of vehicles have suffered tyre punctures.
Appealing to the public for information they may have on who is responsible, local police constable Alison Cooper said: “Incidents like this can cause unnecessary damage to passing vehicles and can have serious consequences.
“I don’t need to spell out the hazard that damaged car tyres can cause, let alone the financial impact to the many victims. I would urge local residents to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to Police.”
Several similar incidents of tacks being scattered over roads in New Elgin sparked a similar police investigation last year. Police said that they were keeping an open mind over any possible connection between the attacks in Elgin and those in Lossiemouth.
PC Cooper, meanwhile, appealed for anyone who has information to come forward: “Anyone with information relating to this incident is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
