AN APPEAL HAS been renewed for witnesses to the serious accident just outside Forres at the weekend that left a 12-year-old boy fighting for his life.

Police say there is no improvement in the condition of the boy who was transferred on Sunday from Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin to a specialist unit in Edinburgh for treatment.

He had earlier been involved in an accident when riding as a pillion passenger on his 51-year-old father’s motorbike. His father suffered only minor injuries in the accident with an under-tow caravan.

A police spokeswoman said: “Officers investigating the accident would like to hear from any motorists who think they saw anything that could help with their inquiries.

“We understand that there has been no change in the boy’s condition, which is still serious and his injuries are still considered life-threatening.”

The A96 remained closed for seven hours after Sunday’s accident, which happened close to the Forres Enterprise Park roundabout, as site investigations into its cause continued late into the evening.
