A RACE NIGHT held recently to help raise funding for a Moray school scored big with horse racing fans as it netted over £1100 for the cause.

Following an appeal from the PTF at Bishopmill Primary School in Elgin, insideMoray ran a feature a few days before the Race Night was held in the school. Now delighted supporters have revealed that was the boost they needed – with people flocking to the event and digging deep.

PTF spokeswoman Suzanne Lynch-McKay said: “We were delighted that insideMoray very kindly ran a feature on our fundraising efforts and would certainly recommend organisations get in touch if they are doing anything similar.

“Raising money for school resources is no easy feat in today’s economic climate – so Bishopmill Primary School PTF are delighted to have raised £1167 at their recent ‘Night at the Races’ event.

“As well as support from insideMoray, Henderson’s Decorators and Springfield Properties were the main sponsors of the evening, which was a great success and has been tipped as favourite to become a regular feature of the PTF fund-raising calendar.

“The money raised is earmarked to purchase a new mathematics resource for the whole school that will help all pupils enhance and expand their numeracy skills.

“Numeracy is a key area for improvement in all schools across Moray.”

Groups, individuals and organisations have received support from insideMoray from the day the community news site was created. With a readership that reached 110,000 in April, ours is easily one of the leading free resources of its kind in Scotland.

If you have an event you wish to promote, please send an email to editor@insidemoray.scot – can we ask that you provide details of your event, why it is being held, what your hopes are and a quote from an organiser.

Please – do not simply send an advertising poster, that helps but on its own does not create something that people will be drawn to read!
