ANYONE BEING OFFERED cheap frozen fish is being asked to contact police after a large quantity was stolen from Buckie Harbour.
Police are saying that the fish, valued at a three-figure sum, was stolen in a plastic box which had been in a freezer at the harbour.
The fish was taken at some point between midday on Wednesday, June 29 and when the owner returned at around 6pm on Thursday, June 30.
Investigating officer PC Roy Fraser said: “I would ask anyone who might have information about this incident to get in touch as soon as possible.
“Likewise, if anyone was sold fish – in particular Halibut and Monkfish – around the dates in question and noticed anything suspicious, please let us know.
“Crimes of this nature are rare in the area, so it is extremely disappointing to hear when someone’s livelihood is affected and they are left out of pocket.
“Anyone with information should contact your local Police office on 101.”
