THE BEST YOUNG BOWLING talent in the UK is heading for Moray this weekend when a local club is to host a UK junior men’s international event.

Moray Bowling Club on Seafield Street in Elgin will host the championship that will see many of the Commonwealth stars of the future competing on Saturday and Sunday.

“We are absolutely delighted to be hosting the junior internationals event that will see young bowlers from Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales in competition on our green,” the club’s Stephen McKidd told insideMoray.

He added: “This event is for bowlers in the under-25 age group and is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the country, so it is fantastic to see it taking place in Moray. I’m sure that players, officials and supporters will enjoy their weekend in Elgin where they are assured a very warm welcome from our club members.”

The BIBC championships will feature a strong Scottish line-up under the management of Gordon Neil, a former Scottish international in both outdoor and indoor bowls. Gordon led the Scotland outdoor team to a world championship title in 1996 and remains a vital member of the national coaching team under Willie Wood MBE.

Parking for spectators attending the championships will be at East End Primary School on Institution Road. For further information visit the Championship Facebook Page  where questions can be left.
