FORRES AND BURGHEAD have entered the top ten holiday hotspots in Scotland, according to new figures released by one of the UK’s leading holiday websites.
The effects of events such as Piping at Forres and the Findhorn Bay Festival appear to be having a major effect on visitor numbers as the holidaylettings.co.uk data saw a spike in demand over the last year.
Operated by travel giant TripAdviser, the newly compiled data places Forres in second place with a 135% increase in booking enquiries while Burghead entered the top ten with a 35% increase.
Jack Johnson from holidaylettings.co.uk said: “People have always loved going to the Moray coast, but this year it seems that travellers have really got the taste back for an old fashioned break close to the sea.
“We’ve seen a huge 135% year-on-year spike in the number of enquiries for Forres and Burghead this year – and 2016 isn’t even over yet!”
Jack added that the increase in interest and demand for holiday accommodation might prompt homeowners in Moray to capitalise on the trend by rending out their home or a spare room.
He added: “We know that travellers love the home comforts that a holiday rental offers, so why not list your home and start earning yourself some extra cash?
“Registering a home with us is really easy and the money you can make might surprise!”
