No need to feel excluded in the computer age

PEOPLE IN MORAY who are left confused and excluded from the many services that encourage applications and information online are being urged to pick up free lessons in their local library.

Last year Moray Council’s library and information services were enabled in delivering free training thanks to funding from the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations.

That has allowed tutored courses to take place at Buckie, Keith, Elgin, Forres and Lossiemouth libraries – resulting in many local people honing their online skills and no longer feeling ‘left out’ from modern technology that most take for granted.

A spokeswoman said: “Participants in these courses will learn how to become part of the digital age with sessions in creating and using an e-mail account, internet search skills, using social media, digital devices, identifying and deleting spam and staying safe online.

“Moray Libraries are offering free ICT taster sessions for complete beginners. If you are looking to develop your computer and online skills in a relaxed and friendly environment, then book a place by phoning Elgin Library on 01343 562603. Sessions will be available in Libraries across Moray.”
