THE IMPORTANCE OF Moray’s emergency services working side by side was underlined last night when Coastguard officers from Moray, Highland and Aberdeenshire visited Elgin Fire Station.
Coastguard volunteers based in Burghead, Lossiemouth and Buckie were joined by colleagues from Nairn and from Portsoy at the Elgin station.
The familiarisation visit allowed the Coastguard to see water rescue and safe working at heigh equipment at the Fire and Rescue base – while at the same time display specialist equipment being used by HM Coastguard to firefighters.
A spokesman for HM Coastguard Moray said: “The visit is the latest in an initiative across the area to enhance knowledge of how each service operates and how we can help each other out.”
People in Moray can follow the work of the HM Coastguard teams through their Facebook Page.
