A 41-YEAR-OLD MAN has appeared at Elgin Sheriff Court facing an attempted murder charge following the incident in a coastal village earlier this week.
Steven Cowie faced the charge along with further accusations of assault to severe injury, permanent injury and danger of life.
He offered no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.
The appearance followed an incident on Victoria Street in Portknockie in which a 45-year-old woman suffered serious injuries which were later described by police as ‘not life threatening’.
Police moved quickly to calm fears in the quiet village saying that this was a rare and isolated incident.
