PEOPLE IN MORAY are being reminded that they have just a week remaining to ensure that they can vote in the local elections on May 4.
They are also being urged to check the voting guide provided by the Electoral Commission ahead of the elections, which uses a different form of voting from that used in national elections.
The guide should already have been delivered to all households in Moray and contains important information for voters on how to register and how to fill out their ballot paper on May 4.
Moray’s depute returning officer, Moira Patrick, said: “Now that voters in Moray have received the voting guide from the Electoral Commission, we hope they will feel confident about taking part in the council election.
“Anyone who has not received a copy can view it online at www.moray.gov.uk/elections
“The guide has also been produced in a number of different languages and accessible formats. Don’t forget that you will not be able to have a say if you are not registered to vote by the April 17 deadline, so I would encourage anyone not already registered to do so online now at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.”
Voters who are already registered to vote are being reminded that they do not need to register again – anyone already registered will receive a poll card by April 28.
