Five Buckie arrests following drugs search

A MAN IS EXPECTED to appear in Elgin Sheriff Court on Tuesday facing drug supply charges following a major operation in Buckie on Saturday.

The 26-year-old is one of five men who were arrested in the ‘Operation Aspen’ anti-drug operation in the Moray town.

Four men aged between 20 and 24 have also been charged under allegations that they were in possession of controlled drugs, with cocaine and cannabis recovered along with almost £1000 in cash.

Following the arrests Detective Inspector Norman Stevenson commented: “Targeting crime involving drugs is a priority for the Division under Operation Aspen to ensure the North East remains one of the safest places to live and work and that the region is a hostile environment for drug-related crime.

“I would like to remind local communities that they can play the most crucial role of all in helping us do this by telling us when and where suspicious activity is happening. By having the confidence to tell us your concerns we can make it very difficult for organised crime groups to operate.

“I would like to thank the public who have provided us with information so far, and would encourage anyone else with concerns to contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you would prefer to remain anonymous.”
