A YOUNG MAN has been seriously assaulted in Lossiemouth over the last weekend – prompting an appeal from Police Scotland.
The 21-year-old was in the Stotfield Road area of the town at around 1.20am on Saturday, June 24 when the incident, which is being described as ‘unprovoked’ happened.
The victim sustained serious injuries to his face and had to be taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin for treatment.
Investigating officers are asking anyone who was in the area at the time, or anyone who has information about the incident, to contact Police.
PC Lisa Gauld of the Divisional Alcohol Violence Reduction Unit (DAVRU) said: “In particular we want to trace and speak to a group of individuals who we believe were in the area at the time.
“It would have been closing time for many of the pubs and we know from enquiries thus far that numerous people were walking in the vicinity. Please get in touch if you think you saw anything that could help with our enquiries.
“Violence in any form will not be tolerated, especially in generally safe areas like this where incidents of this nature are rare. Extensive enquiries including reviewing local CCTV are ongoing.
“Contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you would prefer to remain anonymous.”
