Police call for witnesses to assault in Forres town centre

POLICE IN FORRES are appealing for information following the assault of two males on the town’s High Street on Sunday afternoon.

The incident happened at 4pm when two men, aged 18 and 20, were assaulted by a group of men near the High Street junction with North Street.

Local investigating officer is Constable Donal Brown, who said: “This was a senseless attack which will not be tolerated.

“I’m particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident and who may be able to identify or describe any of the persons responsible or have heard anything that was being said at the relevant time.

“There was also a black Renault Clio stopped on the high street at the time of the incident. Anyone who recalls seeing the vehicle or the incident is asked to contact us.

“As a result of the incident one of the victims sustained a facial injury, whilst the other victim was uninjured. Violence of this nature is unacceptable and so I am keen to trace those responsible as soon as possible.”

If you have information about this incident Constable Brown asks that you contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous, quoting reference 3278 of 27 August.
