FOLLOWING A SUCCESSFUL first and second concerts in the new ‘Music for Lunch’ series held recently at National Trust for Scotland Brodie Castle, a third eagerly awaited performance is planned for 26 September.
The concert will be held in the superb surroundings of the main Victorian Drawing Room at the magnificent Castle, the ancestral home of the Brodie clan for over 800 years.
Heading the days programme will be the well-respected pianist Christopher Baxter – who is described by music critics as providing ‘… a dazzling display of virtuoso musicianship’. Christopher is in constant demand as a soloist and recent performances include recitals throughout the UK and abroad.
Property Manager at Brodie Castle, Shona Ferguson, is delighted with the event series and says: “The Drawing Room is very special and an ideal venue as the acoustics are exceptional. We know that the venue is perfect to showcase such a brilliant musician.
“The Tuesday lunchtime recital will be on Tuesday 26 September 2017 at 12.00pm and will feature the Scottish pianist’s repertoire. Christopher will be playing pieces by Mozart, Schumann and short Scotland-themed pieces over the lunchtime period.
“He has performed recently at the Royal Festival, Wigmore, Usher and London’s Steinway Halls, performances at the Latour and Uzerche Festivals in France, the Alba Festival in Italy, a tour of the Faroe Islands, at the Erin Arts Centre on the Isle of Man, and recitals in South Korea and Singapore.
“After the 45-minute recital by Christopher, lunch will be available as an option in the Castle Tea Room. Our Tea Room team always go that extra mile and I know that it will be a wonderful finish to a very special event.”
The ‘Music for Lunch’ series is coordinated by Bernardo Mantilla Baca, a resident of Brodie, and is a collaborative cultural exchange programme project between the National Trust for Scotland, Music Nairn, Findhorn Bay Arts and Fundacion Teatro Bolivar.
It provides the opportunity for locals and visitors alike to experience top quality live music in the splendour and atmosphere of Brodie Castle. The Drawing Room has an impressive art collection many of which can be seen whilst listening to this live piano recital.
Shona added: “The venue is perfect for such a world class performance. We are very lucky to have the opportunity to host this very special concert series of ‘Music for Lunch’ at Brodie.”
Ticket price is £15 per person (£12 for children under 10) for the recital admission. For more information, including detail of the music repertoire visit the website or ring 01309 641371.
