‘Moray Soup’ returns to find another worthy community cause

HOT SOUP AND COMMUNITY SPIRIT is on order later this month for the return of Moray Soup to the Inkwell Café in Elgin.

The crowdfunding event with a twist returns at the venue of the previous winners – and provides an opportunity to hear and see how Moray Soup has benefited them.

Anyone can attend the event where each makes a £5 donation at the door before listening to the pitches, enjoy the entertainment, eat soup and discuss who should be rewarded with the donations accumulated during the evening.

A spokesman said: “What makes Moray SOUP unique is the emphasis that all the money raised goes straight back into the community.

“This can only be achieved thanks to the generosity of local business’ who sponsor and donate whatever they can, from ingredients to the venue itself, and with the support of everyone who attends and volunteers to help make it happen.

“Moray SOUP is run by students of Moray College UHI and members of the community who aspire to live and work in an area that encourages and supports creativity and entrepreneurship. Winning is not the only way to walk away from Moray SOUP rewarded, as previous presenters and attendees will agree.

“The audience may share any areas of expertise, advice and access to things that may help any of the projects, and are encouraged to do so. This will be especially exciting for the next event on November 14 that will be introduced as Moray Business SOUP, taking place during Moray Business Week.”

Moray Soup takes place on October 26 from 5.30pm until 7.30pm – anyone can submit ideas and projects, which can be anything from small business start-ups to school projects or art and community initiatives, clubs, societies and charities.

On the night, there will be four minutes given to four projects to give their presentations and answer four questions from the audience. No props are allowed, just stand up and speak enthusiastically about your chosen project.
