Elgin Police operation leads to four reported for drug possession

DRUGS WITH AN ESTIMATED street value of around £1200 were seized in Elgin yesterday as police conducted a day of action.

Several officers carried ‘stop and searches’ in the town, resulting in a seizure of Valium, ecstasy tablets and cannabis.

Four men and a women have now been charged with reports being readied for the Procurator Fiscal.

Constable Jad Leach, of Elgin Community Policing Team, said: “We are committed to targeting the illegal supply and use of drugs in the North East and the associated anti-social behaviour.

“We rely on the community to do this and will act upon any concerns which are reported to us.

“We continue to urge anyone with information or concerns to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous.”
