Community seeks to re-establish their local representation

A MORAY COMMUNITY that narrowly missed out from having a new Community Council established earlier this year is attempting to redress the situation.

A community petition from Findhorn and Kinloss residents is seeking to re-establish their community council and Moray Council has taken the first steps by calling on nominations for membership.

Main community council elections were held in September, however, insufficient numbers of those wishing to be elected to Findhorn & Kinloss came forward at that time. Ten seats are available on the community council, five of whom must be from Findhorn and five more from Kinloss.

Prospective candidates have until Tuesday, December 19 to lodge nomination papers with the election office at Moray Council. In the even of their being more candidates than seats available, an election will be held by postal ballot during January.

Nomination papers can be downloaded from Moray Council’s website, by calling 01343 563334 or by emailing election.enquiries@moray.gov.uk.
