A new Sunday bus service between Elgin and Dufftown is to start for a trial period over the summer.
Stagecoach service 36 connects Elgin and Dufftown every hour Monday to Saturday and from 1st July until 12th August 2018 the service will be enhanced to offer an hourly connection on Sundays connecting Elgin, Rothes, Aberlour, Craigellachie and Dufftown. The enhancements to the service over the summer period follow on from the success of the additional Stagecoach bus connections for the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival.
To celebrate the launch of the Sunday service a special Whisky Trail bus will be in operation in the Moray area. The bus will be part of a wider promotion encouraging visitors to not only discover the Moray area but to do so by bus.
David Liston, Managing Director for Stagecoach North Scotland said: “I am delighted to officially launch the summer enhancements to service 36 in Moray. We are always looking for ways to encourage even more people to try the bus and we hope this campaign will not only be welcome news for visitors to the area but also the thousands of locals that choose to travel by bus each week in the Moray area. We recognise the importance of the Speyside area and the many fantastic attractions that our bus services connect to. We hope that all the local businesses in Speyside will support our efforts to assist in making our summer trial as successful as possible.”
James Johnston OBE, Chair of the Malt Whisky Trail said: “I am delighted to see that Stagecoach has launched a new livery that reflects on the glue that brings the region together – Malt Whisky Country. There is a very real need for a better integrated public transport system, supported by the private sector, which helps people to travel around the roads and many ‘trails’ of Moray, such as the Malt Whisky Trail and the Moray Food Trail.
“I’m pleased that a new livery draws attention to one of the many fine offerings of Moray but also encourages visitors to explore the area by bus. And of course, using the bus has so many benefits for the wider community from the promotion of drinking responsibly through to environmental care. What a fantastic livery that so brings alive the very special place we all call home, Moray.”
