A new book penned by a Moray woman which helps people create a good end of life plan is now on sale.
Jane Duncan Rogers will officially launch her second book at an event held in Forres next week.
Jane was inspired to create the social enterprise Before I Go Solutions which helps people plan for a good death after her husband Philip tragically died in 2011.
And the new book Before I Go: The Essential Guide to Creating a Good End of Life Plan is a sequel to Jane’s first more personal story Gifted By Grief: A True Story of Cancer, Loss and Rebirth.
Jane who lives in Forres explained why she felt a written guide on end of life planning is a must and also how it differs from her first book.
She said: “The first book was more of a memoir and was a very cathartic process for me following the loss of Philip. It does have useful information, but it wasn’t written for that reason. I knew I would write about what happened and our journey, but honestly, I never intended that it would get published professionally, but here we are.”
She added: “From that book, I started doing courses and created a workbook for people and it became clear that there was an appetite for more information and that is what this new Guide is for. It’s more informative and less about my personal journey. It advises the reader through subjects such as how to have a conversation about dying, the impact of grief on relatives responsible for estate matters, DIY funerals and what that entails and lots more too. There is also a full resource pack including guiding questions, exercises, and recording tools, as well as downloadable worksheets and online courses.”
Jane’s new Guide will be launched at an event in the Tolbooth in Forres on August 15 and she is encouraging people to come along.
“Death is a subject which people can find tricky to talk about, but I hope the book launch which will have some interactive activities as well as a reading from the book will encourage people to strike up a conversation about the topic. I’m intending the launch to be a celebration of the book, but it’s my mission to get people talking about death and grief and ensure that people are as prepared as they can be for when that difficult time comes.”
Join Jane for the launch of Before I Go: The Essential Guide to Creating a Good End of Life Plan at the Tolbooth, Forres at 7pm on August 15.
