Moray’s premier Youth Music festival will go ahead

The best of Moray’s talented musical youngsters will be on show once again in Lossiemouth this summer.

News that the ‘Wall of Rock’ music festival is to go ahead has been welcomed throughout Moray, the announcement finally putting an end to rumours that the popular event would not take place this summer.

A number of problems were laid in the path of organisers from the Lossiemouth Youth Cafe, not least being the damage inflicted on the Station Park venue used for the festival in severe storms last December.

There were additional fears over security for the event, with adult volunteers being drafted in each year to ensure the safety of both performers and spectators, while funding has always been an issue.

However, a line-up has now been announced with the cream of Moray’s young talent once again set to take centre stage for two days on August 30 and 31.

The highly popular local band Peruvia will once again headline the festival when they appear on the main stage at 10pm on the Saturday evening, while other performers already signed up to appear will be Sunrise Tricks, Casey Inlet and Chasing Tasko (on Friday).

Joining Peruvia on the main Saturday stage will be Ded Rabbit, The Unofficial and Still.

Organisers say that they are still seeking out acts for Saturday afternoon sessions, with Daniel Edwards commenting: “We are currently short of six acts so anyone who might be interested in playing a 30-minute set on the main stage is asked to complete an application form.

“The great news though is that we are already fully booked for the Friday and Saturday evening sessions both on the main stage and the acoustic stage.”
