A Keith man had sentence deferred until August when he appeared at Elgin Sheriff Court on Thursday to answer a charge of breaching the Firearms Act.
Michael Ritchie, 41, entered a guilty plea before the court heard that he was found to be in possession of 40 blank cartridges.
Police had raided Mr Ritchie’s caravan in March after reports that he had a firearm at his former home in the town. However, it turned out to be an imitation handgun.
Meanwhile another Keith man appeared at the Sheriff Court on theft charges. Jordan Thomson, 28, appeared alongside Dean Leach, 29 from Burghead.
Both denied stealing cigarettes and cash from a newsagents in Mid Street on June 23. They are also accused of breaking into Keith Garage on Moss Street two nights earlier. They were released on bail with a trial date set for August 9.
