Moray set to cool off with rain alert issued

Storm warning for Moray

Moray residents are being warned to expect a break in the current warm sunshine with the Met Office issuing a Yellow alert for heavy rainfall on Tuesday.

Farmers and gardeners will likely welcome the news – however, it does come with the further warning that flooding may be the result of the stormy weather ahead.

In a statement issued today, a Met Office expert said:  “There is an increasing risk that many parts of England, Wales and Scotland will see thunderstorms or longer spells of thundery rain during the course of Tuesday, with some torrential downpours in places.

“The peak risk transfers northeastwards with time and will be clear of most central and southwestern areas by evening.

“The public should be aware of the risk of localised disruption to travel, and more generally to summer holiday activities, due to, for example, surface water flooding.”

While all part of Moray is included in the warning the rainfall is expected throughout the UK.

However, despite the rainfall warning forecasters say that temperatures will remain high, with Moray expected to enjoy a minimum of 20degrees until the end of this week with light rain and showers returning on Friday.
