Work well under way in Beechgrove make-over

The transformation of a historic Speyside garden set to feature on national television is now well under way.

A team of dedicated volunteers has been busy at the Knockando Woolmill garden, undertaking major ground works which are now almost complete – just in time for a BBC ‘Beechgrove Garden’ film crew to descend on the site after it had been chosen to feature as a ‘community garden’.

Filming is due to take place for the popular TV series on Monday, September 2 – but before the experts arrive a call has gone out for more volunteers to help ensure that the site is in perfect condition for its national showcase.

Spokesperson Emma Nicolson said:  “Volunteers and contractors are already transforming the garden, dry stone dykes have been built and the paths are almost finished.

“There is lots more to be done however, and so the Woolmill is hosting two volunteer weekends to get the ground ready for the Beechgrove team and film crew.

“These will take place on Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th August from 12 – 4 pm, and again on Saturday 31st & Sunday 1st September from 12 – 4pm.  Volunteers are needed for preparing the ground, planting and potting.”

Filming at the garden will be over two days with the Beechgrove Garden episode featuring the Knockando Woolmill set to hit screens around the UK on September 26.

Anyone wishing to assist is asked to contact Emma by email or to telephone 01340 810345 for further information.
