Moray Council is to receive funding of £150,000 in the latest round of grants from the Early Years Change Fund.
The grant is part of the latest funding round aimed at helping Scottish charities to work alongside local authorities in supporting families who need additional help, including access to out of hours support and parenting advice.
In Moray the funding will go to a joint project with the charity Action for Children, providing a virtual family centre covering rural issue and intensive outreach. The project will use sports and recreation to engage fathers.
Announcing the latest round of funding today, the Minister for Children, Aileen Campbell, said that the funding will help charities across Scotland to provide the type of targeted help required by families who need more direct help.
She added: “This funding shows how decisions taken in Scotland are giving Scottish families the help they need. It will also help harness the expertise of those working in charities to help the councils deliver for families and maximise Scotland’s future economic prosperity.”
