Barber shop is a cut above the rest in Elgin Business Awards

Thousands voted for the top Elgin business

The inaugural awards for businesses operating in the centre of Elgin has seen a popular barber’s shop beating off the local Royal Bank of Scotland and British Red Cross as the overall business of the year.

K&M Barbers were named as overall award winners in a competition organised by the Elgin Business Improvement District and the Northern Scot newspaper.

Thousands voted for the local shop or business that impressed them most for the services they provided and the way they treated customers.

Category awards winners included the Royal Bank of Scotland, Qismat Elgin, the British Red Cross and Bijou.  Runners up for the overall award was the Elgin branch of WH Smith.

Local councillor Graham Leadbitter said: “All the businesses are a credit to Elgin and that is made more clear by the whopping 3800 members of the public who cast their votes for the awards.

“Our thanks should go to the Northern Scot for sponsoring the awards and for all their staff and that of Elgin BID who counted and collated the thousands of votes that made the event such a success.”

Full details of the awards and winners can be found in this weeks edition of the Northern Scot.
