Wives and girlfriends of RAF personnel moving from RAF Leuchars to their new homes at RAF Lossiemouth are being provided with a sneak preview of what they can expect to find on arrival in Moray.
The former president and founding member of the Moray Business Women’s Group, Faith Simpson, has been working closely with the community development team at RAF Lossiemouth to help make the transfer from the Fife base as easy as possible.
Part of her work has included organising a dinner and discussion outlining job opportunities that might exist in Moray for wives and girlfriends of airmen currently serving at RAF Leuchars.
Mrs Simpson said: “We hope that current members and new members will come along and support these women moving to RAF Lossiemouth and show them that we mean business.”
Attending the dinner will be RAF Lossiemouth’s station commander, Group Captain Ian Gale, who said he will be delighted to support and participate in a scheme that will enhance the efforts both bases are undertaking to make the move as smooth as possible for families.
Award-winning businesswoman Elaine Duthie will be a guest speaker at the dinner. Originally from Gardenstown Ms Duthie was recently the judges’ choice as Business Woman of the Year at the 2013 Association of Scottish Businesswomen ceremony.
The dinner is to be held on Monday, October 28 at the Harbour Lights in Lossiemouth – numbers are restricted and women wishing to attend are urged to book before October 24 by calling 01343 547861.
