A major change is set to take place for Bishopmill residents as they are being promised a new open-plan Post Office with extended opening hours.
The Elgin community are to lose their existing branch but it will be replaced by new premises around half a mile away from its current location at the Spar Store on Morriston Road.
Before the move takes place, however, the Post Office say that they will conduct a six-week consultation period with local people.
A spokesman said: “The new branch would open from 6am until 10pm from Monday to Saturday and between 7am and 9pm on Sundays.”
Concerns where expressed over the safety of the Bishopmill Post Office in 2011 when thieves broke into the branch – they managed to escape with only £60 in coins.
The proposals would see the changes to Post Offices in Aberlour and Rothes, with the new branch in Rothes based at the McColls Store on New Street. The Aberlour branch would move along the High Street to Cattenach Newsagents.
Consultations on the Bishopmill plans will close on December 18.
