Russian classical gala set for Aberlour and Elgin

Shekherazade – set for Moray.

Moray is set for an international treat with an exclusive show being planned by a leading group of Russian performers.

A performance by the Russian Classical Gala is being sponsored by Walkers Shortbread of Aberlour with all proceeds from the two shows going to the Aberlour children’s charity.

Acclaimed soprano Oxana Lesnichaya will sing at the Speyside Auditorium in Aberlour on Monday December 2 supported by the choir from Speyside Academy. The following evening, dancers from the Russian Ballet Theatre will join Oxana in taking to the stage at Gordonstoun School in Elgin.

Jim Walker CBE, Managing Director of Walkers Shortbread, said: “The Russian Ballet Theatre group and Oxana are some of the best classical performers in the world – their performances are truly great. Walkers is delighted to be able to help to bring them to Moray for people to enjoy in aid of Aberlour – Scotland’s Children’s Charity.

“Aberlour does invaluable work in supporting vulnerable young people across the country, helping them to have happier lives. Walkers is proud to be involved with them.”

The ballet dancers will perform scenes from the likes of Nutcracker and Swan Lake. Oxana, who sings at the world-famous Bolshoi Theatre, will be accompanied by a piano.

Marie-Claire Jones, Fundraising Manager at Aberlour, added: “This is set to be a phenomenal show and a fantastic opportunity for people to enjoy world-leading entertainment in Moray.

“We are extremely grateful to Walkers Shortbread for so generously bringing the Russian Classical Gala to Aberlour and Elgin in aid of Aberlour. It is set to be two fantastic evenings and we would urge people to snap up their tickets early to enjoy performances from these great talents.”

Tickets for both shows, which are also supported by the Marcliffe at Pitfodels, are priced just £10.
