Several RAF wives and their children are in Moray to take a close-up look for themselves at local school facilities.
The visit follows an information visit by head teachers from Moray who visited RAF Leuchars last month to meet parents who are set to move from the Fife base to RAF Lossiemouth later this year.
Anneline Wilson and daughter Erin, Helen Martin and her daughters Hannah and Eilidh, Louise Duncan and her son Jack and Daughter Elie joined Susan Keenan and daughter Emily at Lossiemouth’s Hythehill and St Gerardine primary schools. They also called in at Lossiemouth High School and the childcare centre at RAF Lossiemouth.
The fact-finding mission was arranged to allow Leuchars parents to see the schools in which their children will be enrolling. Head Teacher at Hythehill, Madeline McCutcheon, said: “I think a visit like this takes away the anxiety.
“If children can see where they are going and the parents can ask questions it assuages any concerns.”
Pauline Moir, deputy head at Leuchars Primary School and the transitions officer for Fife Council, accompanied the group on the visit.
Mrs Moir is herself originally from Elgin and will lead the group on further visits today in Elgin, with some of the children likely to enrol at Bishopmill, Seafield and St Sylvester’s.
