Despite a loss in Sochi this morning to host nation Russia in the round-robin stages of the Paralympics, Team GB still have their fate in their own hands as they go into the final qualifying rounds on Thursday.
Russia’s comfortable 11-2 win over the British rink sees them into the semi-final stages of the competition alongside Canada, who defeated South Korea 10-4 in another morning session match.
Moray’s pair in the GB side, Gregor Ewan and Jim Gault, again performed well with each recording 61% accuracy in the Russia match while skipper Aileen Neilson’s stats dropped to 46% and Bob McPherson to 34%.
There was little, however, GB could do against a Russia rink that maintained the high consistency they have maintained in front of their home crowd. Russia took the lead by two shot in the second end before stealing another two against the hammer in the third. They confirmed their win with a stunning five points in the seventh end.
The GB curlers now need wins in both their final outings on Thursday against the United States (5.30am) and China (11.30am).
