Over 30 groups expected to attend Lossiemouth summit meeting

Over 30 local groups in Lossiemouth are expected to take part in discussions on a joint cooperative approach in the Town Hall tonight (Wednesday).

Called by the Lossiemouth Community Council, the meeting is open to any local group or organisation interested in promoting their activities in the town and working towards a coordinated approach in particular to fundraising efforts.

The meeting is a follow-up to a similar event held at the end of last year facilitated by the community council with Moray Council liaison staff members helping to organise the event.

Chairman of the Lossiemouth Community Council, Mike Mulholland, said: “We are delighted with the response with around 30 groups already telling us they will send representatives to the meeting.

“We would like to see as many as possible and even at this late stage would urge all local groups and organisations to send a representative along to the Town Hall.

“One of the main items on our agenda will be a discussion on plans to create a new Lossiemouth Development Association, consisting of representatives from groups in the town as well as from the community council and local business association.

“That Association would be able to call on those with a successful track record in applying for public funding from a variety of sources, so helping individual groups and associations in identifying the best way of achieving their funding aims.”

The meeting will be held in the Lossiemouth Town Hall at 7pm and is expected to finish by 9pm.
