Road repairs warning for Elgin and Forres A96 motorists

Moray motorists are being warned to expect possible delays as major repair and resurfacing works are carried out on the A96 through Elgin and Forres.

Work on a £217,000 programme will start overnight on Monday at West Road in Elgin from the Lossie Bridge and Braelossie Place.

Resurfacing works will then move on to the Forres bypass from the Findhorn roundabout to the sewage works.

Both lanes of the road will be affected with a convoy system being put into operation and a strict 10mph speed limit applied through the Elgin works, while in Forres a temporary traffic light system will be put in place.

Speaking for Bear Scotland, Andy Thomson said: “The works will repair these two failing sections of the A96 and improve the general condition of the road, keeping them safe and reducing noise and vibration for local residents.

“The works are being carried out overnight to reduce delays but we would encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance and allow some extra time.”
