It takes a bit more than a little rain to dampen the Spirit of Speyside festival with the popular ‘classic car’ rally in Forres once again attracting hundreds to Grant Park today (Sunday).
Hundreds of exhibits this year included one that is normally seen on water rather than the roads, the Moray Gig attracting a great deal of attention out of it’s normal beat in Findhorn Bay.
As well as the host of stylish vehicles superbly cared for by classic car enthusiasts, the day included a mix of musical entertainment and a host of stalls from charity and craft groups far and wide.
The vintage theme day has become a popular event during the Spirit of Speyside Festival. Sponsored by local distillery Benromach, the day has a competitive edge to it with the best turned out and most interesting vehicles on display being judged.
Robbie Paterson, who chairs the Vintage Vehicle Theme Day organising committee, said: “It is really something to see when all the vintage cars are on display in Grant Park alongside a number of food stalls and entertainment for all the family.
“This year we also have pipe bands present – as in previous years we are expecting thousands to turn out and fully expect 2014 to be bigger than ever for the event and the Spirit of Speyside.”
Admission to Grant Park is free with judging and announcement of the winning vehicles at 5pm this evening.
