Tickets for the most anticipated event in Moray this summer have gone on sale with organisers urging people to snap them up early and avoid disappointment.
The European Pipe Band Championships at Forres’ Grant Park brought thousands of competitors and visitors to Moray when first held in the area last year. Dubbed ‘Piping Hot Forres’ the event proved to be about much more than the international bagpipe competition at its heart.
The 2014 event – to be held on Saturday, June 28 – takes on even greater impetus as part of ‘Homecoming Scotland’ and it is expected that thousands more spectators will pack into the venue alongside pipers, drummers and Highland Dancers from far and wide.
In addition local producers will again be putting on show the food and drink that has been the backbone of Scotland’s reputation for excellence, led by local distillery Benromach who are the event’s main sponsors.
A spokesman for Piping Hot Forres said: “We have held tickets at the same price levels as last year, mainly thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and other supporters.
“New this year though is a concessionary ticket price for those aged 60 or over, who can purchase tickets in advance for £9 or on the day at £10.
“There are also concessionary price levels for those 18 and under – and with all tickets purchasing in advance provides a distinct advantage in that they are discounted further.”
Tickets can be purchased at any Beaver Travel shops in Elgin and Forres or R&R Urquhart’s offices in Forres and Nairn. They can also be purchased online – full details available via http://www.pipinghotforres.com.
