Businesses in Lossiemouth are being urged to embrace an initiative that it is hoped will become an annual celebration of the coastal community.
The first ever ‘Seafest’ will launch in the town next month with a Seafood Supper at the town’s Stotfield Hotel on the evening of July 4.
On the esplanade the following day a Food Fayre and Fun Day will be held with stalls and exhibits on show.
Seafest is an initiative promoted by MoraySpeyside Tourism and supported by the Lossiemouth Community Council as part of their plans to form a new community association in the town.
To help promote the inaugural Seafest weekend, MoraySpeyside Tourism are calling on local businesses to decorate their shop fronts on a nautical theme. It is hoped that displays will be on show from June 20 and remain until after the festival weekend.
Displays will be judged with the winner and runner-up being awarded a certificate acknowledging their efforts.
A spokeswoman for MoraySpeyside Tourism said: “It is also our intention that on Monday, June 23 several windows in the town will display the Seafest logo, which was designed by S2 pupils at the art department of Lossiemouth High School.
“Associated with these will be a quiz sheet with entry forms available from participating shops and businesses – completed forms will be collected on July 4 with a prize awarded for winning entries.”
