Moray’s voluntary army have their day in the limelight

The often unheralded army of volunteers in Moray will be recognised today in a ceremony in Elgin that will see 200 certificates of merit handed out.

Marking the 30th national ‘Volunteers Week’ tsiMoray are hosting their annual celebration event at the Elgin Youth Cafe where organisations from throughout the region will display their services to members of the public.

At the centre of the ‘celebration fair’ will be a special awards ceremony that recognises the work of hundreds of volunteers in Moray over the past year.

Jenny Devlin from tsiMoray said: “After the success of last year’s ceremony we are again hosting another Volunteers’ Week Celebration event in the Inkwell, Elgin Youth Café on Thursday 5th June 2014 from 10am-2pm.

“Moray organisations which form the Carer Service Provider Network want to take this opportunity to celebrate and recognise the immense contribution local carers make to the people they care for and their communities.

“We have been taking nominations from our members for those amongst the voluntary community in Moray who deserve special recognition, and winners will be announced at a ceremony during the event.”

tsiMoray is the region’s ‘third sector interface’, providing support, information and services to individual volunteers, social enterprises and community groups in Moray. Further information can be found online at http://www.voluntaryactionmoray.org.uk/.
