Aircraft from RAF Lossiemouth are set to thrill audiences at this years Edinburgh Castle Military Tattoo.
Typhoon and Tornado GR4s from the Moray base will join others from RAF Leuchars in a series of flypasts over Edinburgh Castle.
Flying at just 1000ft above the Royal Mile and over the Castle esplanade, the aircraft will take part in six performances of the Tattoo – while for one evening on August 9 they will join the Red Arrows in a spectacular flypast.
Air Commodore Gerry Mayhew said: “The Royal Air Force is delighted and honoured to be able to participate in this year’s Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
“The Tattoo never fails to attract an international audience and we welcome the opportunity to showcase the United Kingdom’s impressive air power capability.
“Our ever-vigilant Typhoon Force is on high alert every minute of every day to defend the United Kingdom’s airspace and that of our NATO allies, while our Tornados provide critical intelligence gathering and air support to operations around the globe. None of these vital tasks could be achieved without the dedication and skill of our people.”
Typhoons will be over the Castle on Friday, August 1, Tuesday, August 5, Wednesday, August 13 and Saturday, August 18. Tornado jets will conduct flypasts on Friday, August 8 and on Saturday, August 9.
