Elgin folk fans set for an Irish lunchtime jig at the Drouthy

Adding to a growing reputation as one of the most popular live music venues in Moray, Elgin’s Drouthy Cobbler is to host a performance by Irish folk band The Jeremiahs this weekend.

Saturday’s special lunchtime gig has been slotted in to a packed schedule by the band who are making their brief stop in Moray before travelling on toe Glengarry in their first ever Scottish tour.

The Jeremiahs have rapidly become favourites on the Irish Folk scene since their formation in 2013.

With performances across the country at festivals Bloom in the Park, the Celtic Fringe and the Ballyshannon Folk Festival. They also featured at the Copenhagen Irish Festival, adding further to a rapidly growing reputation.

A spokesman for the band said: “Having different musical backgrounds has helped the band to create a truly original sound,

“With a repertoire consisting of old and new folk songs from Ireland, Scotland and England, originality is to the forefront. Joe’s lilting singing is coupled with newly composed melodies played by Brian and Finbarr with a fiery passion, creating one of the hottest and most entertaining performances on the Irish music scene today.”

Tickets for the Elgin performance, which begins at 1.30pm, can be obtained from the Drouthy Cobbler or online from https://billetto.co.uk/the-jeremiahs.
