Organisers of an annual event that regularly raises over £20,000 for local charities is inviting applications for funding from the 2014 event.
The Burghead Harbour Swim attracted £25,000 last year after 200 participants agreed to take on the leap into the Moray harbour for charitable causes.
Each year the swim nominates charities to receive funding from the event, with the Archie Foundation appeal for children’s ward at Dr Gray’s Hospital the main beneficiary in 2013.
Organising committee member Helen McLeod is hoping that the swim this year will beat all previous records, saying: “Last year was an exceptional one for the swim.
“We would like to make this year another success – although it would be very difficult to top the last event.”
Applications for local causes wishing to be considered as beneficiaries from the swim are required by no later than October 3.
Requests should include information on why the cause should benefit and sent to the secretary for the Burghead Harbour Swim, Helen Main, at 23a Grant Street, Burghead, IV30 5UF.
Bids can also be emailed to Mrs Main at helen.main@btinternet.com.
