Courageous Moray woman has sights set on £5k bonus

Lucy Lintott – amazing fight.

A Moray woman who suffers from Motor Neuron Disease (MND) is hoping to gain enough support to win a £5000 boost for a national charity.

Lucy Lintott has made it into the final 10 entries after a surge of support from the online community in Moray earlier this month – now she needs even greater efforts to ensure her bid secures top place.

Lucy has already raised almost £30,000 for MND Scotland since being diagnosed with the progressive disease that attacks the nerves, brain and spinal chord.

The brave Garmouth teenager recently walked the Speyside Way in a sponsored 65-mile challenge to help raise awareness of the disease.

Completing that challenge helped boost her fundraising efforts – but it is not enough for the courageous woman who was just 19-years-old when she was diagnosed last November.

Lucy has raised her original £30k target to £100,000 – and to help her on the way to that new goal she is asking people in Moray to assist her bid to win a £5000 award from the Mountain Warehouse Charity Challenge.

The online challenge that will give a £5000 award to the charity fundraiser who wins a public vote on their website is due to end next week, having reached the final stages with just ten bids remaining – people can vote for Lucy’s effort at http://www.mountainwarehouse.com/charity/entries/the-speyside-way-e2100.aspx

Lucy said: “At the age of 19 I was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease and as you can imagine this has been incredible difficult.

“My aim is to raise as much awareness and money for MND Scotland as I can in the time I have got left. Hopefully leading them to find a cure!”

Lucy’s first aim is to attract enough support in the competition to reach the last ten – it will then be up to the public to decide who ultimately wins the £5000.

One of Lucy’s supporters told insideMoray: “It would be great if the whole of Moray could get behind her especially with a Facebook campaign that has been organised.”

People can contribute directly to Lucy’s fundraising drive on her Just Giving page https://www.justgiving.com/Lucy-Lintott1 while her fight also has its own Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/lucysmndfight.
