Women reach for the summit with local business awards

A search has been launched to find Moray’s top business women of the year with nominations now open for the Business Women Awards 2014.

Serving as a showcase of female business talent in Moray, the annual awards also celebrate the achievement of women in business throughout the region.

Open to women who either run their own business or who are working in business in the private and public sectors, three awards are up for grabs – Moray Business Woman of the Year, Most Enterprising Business and the Member of Achievement.

Award winner in 2013 were Lisa Lawrence of hair.com, who with Niki Royan won Most Enterprising Business.

Lisa said: ‘Winning the award for Most Enterprising Business has given hair.com great exposure and helped us grow as a business and as businesswomen.

“We have learned so much through putting together our entries and representing Moray at a national level has been an amazing experience.”

Carole Small, a Moray architect and President of Moray Business Women, said: “These awards highlight the ever increasing contribution of women to the economic success of Moray and inspire and serve to motivate other women.

“The diversity and standard of business here in Moray is outstanding and it is only right that we recognise those achievements and celebrate them.

“We encourage all to apply, including previous applicants, winners and finalists.”

Moray Business Woman and Most Enterprising Business of the Year are open to all professional and businesswomen in Moray, entry is free for Moray Business Women members and £15 for non-members, payable with each entry.

Women can either nominate themselves or another business. The Member of Achievement award is open to MBW members only.

The winner of Most Enterprising Business Award will win a contribution to costs for attendance at the Association of Scottish Business Women (ASB) Awards in 2015.

Closing date for applications is Monday, September 22 with terms and conditions available along with a downloadable application form on the Moray Business Women web site.
