Young women in Moray are being encouraged to attend a free course aimed at increasing their confidence over a wide range of ‘life skills’.
Elgin Youth Cafe will be the venue for ‘Confidence in Life Skills’ sessions over an eight-week period from the end of this month.
The programme is aimed at young women in the 15 to 18-year-old age group and will cover a range of topics including setting short-term goals, shopping and socialising on a budget, valuing personal skills and how to write a CV.
Those attending can also expect to pick up the basics on practical skills such as computer design using desktop publishing.
A spokeswoman for the Elgin Youth Cafe said: “The course provides an opportunity for young women to have fun while learning new skills or improving on those they already have.
“It will also be an opportunity for them to meet other young women – including young mums – in their same age group.
“Teamwork is a big part of this course as the young people will be doing activities in small teams and using computers to learn basic shopping skills and design of documents.”
The course runs from October 31 to December 20 with sessions from 1.30pm until 3pm. Anyone interested in attending is asked to contact the Elgin Youth Cafe on Frances Place by calling 01343 548300.
