Clubs and schools in the Forres area are to benefit from a scheme aimed at repaying them for the support they have provided to a highly successful youth football venture.
The Forres Soccer 7s have used the pavilion at Grant Park to create a highly successful home for Junior, Intermediate and Senior football on a weekly basis.
Since its formation in 1993 the 7s has moved from being a fun tournament for local children aged eight to sixteen years old, it has flourished into the focus for many hundreds of local boys and girls.
Now the group are aiming to recognise the support they received from the community by launching a kit donation project. Forres Soccer 7s Chairman, Shaun Moat, said: “The first kit donation under the scheme was given to the Forres Boys Brigade last week.
“We wanted to start giving back to the community that has supported us for the last 20 years.
“The club will each year give one full kit and footballs to a club or school within the Forres area. The project is open to any club such as scouts, cubs, brownie or any Forres area local and private schools.”
Applications from groups wishing to receiving the kit donations are being welcomed by March 31 each year, with the Board of Forres Soccer 7s then taking a decision on applications received before deciding where to donate the kit.
Mr Moat said: “Applications will be welcomed from January 1 to March 31 each year and can be sent by email to apply@forres-soccer7s.co.uk with details of the applicants and their reason for applying.”
