New faces at the head of Moray women’s business group

Susan Longmuir

A Forres architect has been appointed to plan the way ahead for Moray’s business women over the forthcoming year.

Susan Longmuir is the newly appointed president of the Moray Business Women group, while another new face is that of Donna Harper who was elected as vice-chair of the group at their AGM earlier this month.

Susan was raised in Buckie and has been based in Moray for most of her 20-year architectural career. She is currently Head of Building Department at Bowlts Chartered Surveyors and is passionate about increasing the wealth of Moray’s built environment and retaining investment by using local contractors, consultants, suppliers and materials.

She lives in Forres with her husband and son in a recently extended house that itself showcases the work of her own practice, which was set up in 2006.

Donna Harper is a partner at Johnston Carmichael based in their Elgin office. The chartered accountant originally joned the firm in 1994 as a trainee and has gained significant experience advising owner-managed businesses on a range of tax and accounting issues.

Susan said: “I am honoured to be voted as President of Moray Business Women for 2015 and very much hope we can have another successful year providing support, friendship and fundraising for our 2015 chosen charity.

“We work hard at Moray Business Women to support our members deal with particular issues that women in business have that may not always be addressed by traditional groups.

“Come along and join us and meet some of Moray’s most inspirational women, do business with them, make friends and together build a better working environment for women in Moray!”

Donna Harper added: “I am delighted to be voted as Vice president of MBW for 2015 and look forward to supporting Susan in her role as President in the coming year.”

The first event of the New Year for the group will be a Burns Supper on Thursday, January 8 at Harbour Lights in Lossiemouth (details available on http://www.mbwc.org.uk).
