Eight day ordeal is over for Suki as she is returned home safely

Joy as Suki is home after eight-day ordeal

Eight days of heartache and worry for a Moray family has ended in joy when Suki the Boxer was found safe and well.

A massive effort was sparked throughout Moray to find Suki, who ran off when he was spooked by a horse on a farm near Culbin.

Suki’s owner Marie Burnell feared the worse as extensive efforts failed to locate her pet, made all the more difficult as the region was hit by storms and freezing temperatures.

Efforts were stepped up over the weekend to locate Suki after several sightings were reported, a Social Media appeal bringing out hundreds of volunteers who helped conduct an extensive search.

The happy ending finally arrived when she was spotted and picked up by a couple in Dyke as they were dropping their son off at school.

An elated Marie said: “She is a little skinnier and hungry, tired and with sore paws – but aside from that she is doing well.”

Marie thanked the thousands of people who had helped in the search for Suki, saying: “I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to each and every one of you who helped search, put up posters, contacted organisations, spread the word and prayed for my sweet girl.

“You have all been amazing, the response was phenomenal and for that I will be eternally grateful.”
