Fire and Rescue Service praise for big-hearted Moray communities

Buckie engine was decked out to raise funds.

Big-hearted Buckie residents are being thanked for their efforts that led to over £4300 being raised by local fire crews.

Last month firefighters in the Moray town decorated their water carrier with lights and proceeded around the town looking for donations for the Firefighters Charity.

As well as Buckie itself the appliance did a tour of the surrounding villages including Findochty and Portgordon.

Now watch manager Dougie Annand has praised the “amazing support” of the Moray communities in helping them raise a magnificent £4314.22.

He said: “Over the space of a few days in December we carried out our annual collection around Buckie and the other villages in the area.

“We visited the square and at nights went to the pubs and clubs, with the kind permission of landlords and also took the appliance to the Tesco car park in Buckie.

“Once again I am very proud of the participation of the Buckie crew who took the time to raise such a fantastic sum for the Firefighters Charity.

“These were all donations and we did not knock on any doors and I would like to send a heartfelt thanks out to the people of Buckie and the surrounding area for their amazing support and generosity.

“Once again people in this area have dug deep and really supported the service and the charity.”

The Firefighters Charity is the UK’s leading provider of services that enhances the quality of life for serving and retired firefighters, fire personnel and their families.
