Free computing courses to launch throughout Moray

Free computing courses are to be provided at locations throughout Moray thanks to a partnership between Moray Council and Citizens Online.

The Free ICT sessions will be held at libraries in Buckie, Elgin, Forres and Lossiemouth – however, prospective students are being warned that sessions must be booked in advance.

Courses are designed for people who have never used a computer before or who might lack the confidence to go online.

Meanwhile the Elgin Library Job Club are looking to recruit new volunteers. The club gives people in Elgin the chance to meet others who are looking for work, build new contacts, share job-hunting experiences and get advice on job applications, CBVs and potential volunteering opportunities.

Research shows that the best way of finding another job is through friends, family or social networks such as job clubs.

A spokesman for the Moray Council Library services said: “During every session we help people to look for work by swapping ideas, creating CVs, assisting with applications and building confidence.

“We are still looking for more volunteers to staff the job club and we would encourage anyone who is interested to get in touch.”

The club meets at Elgin library every Thursday from 10am to 4pm and volunteers are needed for both the morning and afternoon sessions.

Anyone interested in either he computing sessions or wishing to volunteer to help at the Job Club is being asked to call Elgin Library on 01343 562603.
