The range of young musical talent existing in Moray is set to be nurtured through a series of free musical workshops guided by a musician who worked at the highest level.
Bass player Mike Wheeler is looking to pass on some of the experience he gained through working with such as the Pogues to budding young musicians in Moray.
He will do that through a series of musical workshops to be held in the Inkwell Rooms at the Elgin Youth Cafe, with his ‘In the MIx’ programme beginning next Thursday.
Mr Wheeler said that there is clearly a great deal of musical talent amongst young people in Moray who are a benefit to their community – and he wishes to promote when they are doing.
He said: “A lot of younger bands don’t get the chance to play live shows, so I want to give them an idea of how to perform live music.”
The course being held over the next two months will seek to replicate the sort of things that happen in the music industry and will include helping bands create their own music videos. It will also provide valuable tips on song writing and recording demo CDs.
Some equipment can be provided singers, drummers and guitarists if they do not have their own to take along to the sessions. Spaces are limited but still available – anyone interested can contact Mike on 07790 527842 or by email to themusicworx@live.co.uk.
The sessions are suitable for any musicians of academy age from beginner to intermediate level.
